Mitchell Park Domes
Milwaukee, WI
Lighting Design by Marty Peck, CLD-E
Good Electric, Contractor
Featured on catalogs by both Philips Color Kinetics and Renaissance Lighting, this project lights up the skyline as you head west out of Downtown Milwaukee. A variety of color changing products light up both the interior & exterior of Mitchell Park's landmark beehive shaped horticultural domes. Inside, the AVC allows us to syncronize light shows to music from Tchaikovsky & the Beatles. Audio inputs allow the lighting to interact with live music. Since the reopening of the domes the dynamic light shows have helped attract visitors in numbers unseen for many years, increasing both the visibility and awareness of this treasure, while also increasing revenue from both regular & special events. This project was a true success story for both the design team and the park district.
Equipment used: Pharos LPC2, Pharos AVC, ETC Unison dimming & control stations, ETC Source 4 Par EA, Renaissance Lighting Vivia Downlights, Philips Color Kinetics (a variety of products including MRg2, ColorBlast 12 Powercore, ColorGraze, ColorCast 14, and iColor Flex SLX)
