Metra - Randolph Street Station:

Some of Chicago's top designers were involved in the concept and lighting design for the ticketing area at the renovated Randolph Street Station.  Transilluminated panels change color to signal whether a ticket window is open or closed, and whether it is serving customers.

When it came time to turn this idea into reality, the contractors didn't want to spend time learning to build and wire a control system, so they turned to Designlab to provide all of the necessary pieces in a single box that was ready for power and control to be piped and wired in.  DesignLab Chicago was hired by Brian Coddington of S2C to design, fabricate, commission and program thirteen custom control panels integrating Color Kinetics relays and iPlayer controls, IDEC power supplies and proximity sensors into one easy-to-install package.  These were delivered to site for City Lights Electric to install and were subsequently commissioned and programmed by DesignLab engineers.
