Received his BFA in Theatrical Lighting Design from the University of Illinois, Champaign in 1973 and an MFA from Carnegie Mellon University in Technical Production and Lighting Design in 1976. Larry passed the entrance exam for USAA 350 (the professional theatrical design union as a Lighting Designer in 1973 (This is not IATSE 829) and have been a Union Lighting Designer for the past 33 years. Larry has also been a member of Actors Equity since 1978 having joined while a Stage Manager @ Second City. Larry started Designlab in 1977 with Dawn Hollingsworth (now managing partner of Visual Terrain in California) and became the sole owner in 1981. "We have always striven to make quality lighting equipment more affordable, and we' re lowering costs for performance lighting in the Chicago Arts community."
